A few weeks ago, our Fellowship bought some bright red tee shirts and had "LET'S PRAY!" printed on them in large black letters as a means to witness and to show forth our concern for our city when we're out and about or on specific missions.
As soon as the tornadoes and flash floods subsided here in Memphis a few weeks ago, the Spirit of God impressed a few of us to drive through the streets of one of the badly hit neighborhoods and pray, and we did just that. A 150 families had been displaced from their homes, and almost immediately FEMA was on the scene with an approved 15 million dollars. Red Cross and other agencies moved in speedily, and an atmosphere of despair has been prevented.
Another reward of that mission was the opportunity to pray for individuals who stopped us in various stores that we entered and asked for prayer. Others openly acknowledged us with positive affirmations. We were also led to the home of some friends where mother and daughter were battling serious health issues. One had a doctor's appointment that day, and the other was having tests the next day. Other than receiving prayer for their healing, they were most happy for the visit, and just entered a time of praise and thanksgiving before the Lord. They called the next day with good reports concerning their conditions.
We have had many experiences over the years to convince us that ambassadors of the Kingdom are agents of change; so we just continue to add our part to the larger picture of God's will being done on earth. His Kingdom, as well as His body, is a breathing and living entity. Hallelujah!
