The greatest advocate of evolution is our Heavenly Father. He has stated emphatically that He made us in His own image. His Word says that He is Spirit and that those who worship Him must do so in Spirit and in truth. This seems to be such a tall order since man has been trained to observe temporal matters most of his life. But whatever God charges us with, He empowers us to do it. Jesus said, "My yoke is easy and my burdens are light." In God's plan of evolution, how does one renew his/her mind? How does one go "from faith to faith and from glory to glory? How can all things become new? It is an ongoing process, a gradual formation designed to bring His children into fellowship and ultimately into reigning with Him. Of course, there is a healthy and natural growth process; for even the scriptures say, "When I was a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things"
(I Corinthians 13:11).

Yes, God is the creator of all life, and His Word has established that all He has made is good; but when we answer the call to serve Him, we must be shaped and molded into vessels "fit for the Master's use." For God's sake and for ours, it is good that He doesn't have to start from zero. Because God makes no mistakes, our basic structure was as He would have it. Those characteristics that have been attached to us through experience and environment that are not compatible to the way of Christ are the ones that the Creator seeks to help us remove. Yes, we were "born in sin and shaped in iniquity," but when we come to God, He is able to make new creatures out of us.

It has been said that reputation is what others say about you, and character is what you really are. In a spiritual context, God endeavors to help us sort out what should and should not be a part of us. Because it is difficult for man to see himself as he really is, it is necessary that we submit ourselves to our most capable Creator and trust Him to fashion us into new creatures. The Bible encourages us to "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time." This is not the easiest thing to do, but God is more than willing to help us every step of the way.

After we acknowledge that God is and accept His Son as our Savior, then we are ready to be converted into Christians(Believers). Conversion is defined as a change from one state to another; substitution of one thing for another; a spiritual experience involving drastic change in belief.

As our most capable Father takes us to the potter's house, He begins to reshape our character through sound teaching and through new experiences. In fact, we are given a whole new value system.

There very definitely has to be a renewing of the mind in order to conceive of and to respond to the things of the Kingdom of God. "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So they that are in the flesh cannot please God" (Romans 8:5-8). Through much discipline and preparation, we can receive the mind of Christ.

The members of our bodies, as well as our minds, have to be disciplined in order to follow the precepts of the Kingdom. We come into His value system through faith. We learn to esteem many things and ideas that we once despised, such as patience, giving in order to receive, or esteeming others better than ourselves. Yes, we have to allow the supernatural to operate in our lives in order to reach a state of harmony with the Kingdom of God.

As followers of Christ, we must learn to respond to His voice. His will must become paramount over all else. We must learn to seek His approval over all others. These conditions can be attained by applying ourselves to become very familiar with His Word and His Spirit. So often, as an instrument, God uses affairs that are close to our hearts to teach us to hear Him and to obey Him. He made us a promise that is difficult to refuse: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5,6).

God's plan for His children is for us to rule and reign with Him in this earthly realm. The only way that we can reach this state is first to set order in our own lives. Power comes from order. Chaos confuses and weakens. Since the body of Christ is the Church, certainly we can adhere to the dictates of such an honored, tried, and true Head.

God's plan is for His children to evolve into such a refined condition "that He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish" (Ephesians 5:27).
