At work, we sit in these PODs and there can be as many as 4 of us in one POD (although, usually there is only two or three of us). A while back, one of my PODmates had a sign that I absolutely loved. It hung over his computer and said, “God loves everybody . . . but I am His favorite.” Of course I had to disagree because I always thought I was His favorite.
That’s the way I think David felt. In fact, I think he found the key to everyone’s deliverance! He was able to say, “The reason God delivered me from all my enemies—from all my sorrows and the powers of hell—is because I am precious to him. My God delights in me!” Look at Psalm 18:19:
“He brought me forth also into a large place; He was delivering me because He was pleased with me and delighted in me” (Psalm 18:19)
Isn’t that cool? What about you, do you need deliverance? Maybe it is deliverance from lust, temptation, an eating habit or some type of trial or difficult situation? From a problem that’s mental, spiritual, emotional or physical? The key to your victory is in that one verse: “He was delivering me because He was pleased with me and delighted in me” (Psalm 18:19) Yehoveh delights in you! Jesus delights in you! You are precious in their sight!
In Song of Solomon, the Lord says of his bride, “How fair and how pleasant you are, O love, for delights!” (Song of Solomon 7:6). Three of the Hebrew words in this verse are synonymous: fair means precious; pleasantindicates pleasure; and delights. These words describe our Lord’s thoughts toward his bride. He looks at her and says, “How beautiful, sweet and delightful you are. You are precious to me, O love.”
In turn, the bride boasts, “I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me” (Song of Solomon 7:10). He runs after me with delight. He chases me because I am so precious to him.
You can search the Psalms and find these same thoughts. “The Lord takes pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy” (Psalm 147:11). “The Lord takes pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation” (149:4).
I will be so bold as to assure you that as your Lord gazes into youreyes he takes pleasure in you, as well. You are his delight and he will provide any healing and deliverance you need. Begin to thank him and worship him for his love.
