This is another take on the the hand and glove example blog.

Does it seem like the glove has come to life?
You might have to read my blog on the glove, to understand this but let's give it a chance.
If we as Christians are to be dead to ourselves, and alive to Christ, then why are we trying to be alive when we are a shell for the hand, that is inside us? The glove moves only when the hand inside him moves. The glove only makes signals or motions when the hand signals or motions!
I see this in the the way that people act or react to life! I see this in the way that people talk! It is like the saying "the tail is wagging the dog!"

To say the least, it is frustrating to see this in your walk with Christ, especially when it is from the "church-ed". I guess this is what Paul was up against when he was ministering to the Pharisees and Sadducee s.
If we truly have died to ourselves(glove) and we are only alive because of Christ(hand), what a glorious site that would be!!

Douglas, are you saying that we have no part in becoming Christlike? Do we merely sit and allow God to "work" in us? Or, do we need to do things that discipline our own lives to bring us closer to God?

Peace from the NN's of the Earth, Mike

I could live forever and still not be christlike! The key word would be "I"! The only way that I could be like Christ is to Have Christ in me! Paul says in Gal 2:20- No longer I who live, but Christ! Another example of this is in the old testament with Abraham and Sarah. Their taking the lead from God and having Ismil on their own, not waiting for the Lord, It was to be of God's Will and Way. He has shown us many other times in the Bible, that It is Christ in Us that is the Church and His Kingdom. If we are of Christ, the Fruits of the Spirit just come naturally out of us, this will be seen as Christ and not of Us!! This is ALL God wants from Us!!

This is good Doug!...I believe it is ALL about HIM IN US..Christ says; greater works then Him will we do...it is nothing of self...it will come naturally like you say...and Mike..I don't believe anyone is saying we kick back and say "sir rah, sir rah..what will be will be."...Knowing the rest of the Lord is not a "laying on the couch mindset"...its being content in KNOWING who dwells within..that HE is working IN us for HIS Glory...to do the works of the Kingdom... They naturally flow!!....helping others..giving...loving....BEING the Body...and with Christ as our Head, the works of the flesh, should be diminishing....

Christ IN us..The Hope of Glory!

Blessings to you both!
Sister Sandy :)

Sandy, you mentioned that you did not believe anyone is saying we kick back. But, that is the tone that comes across in many of these posts.

Douglas, I am sorry, I am misunderstood again. I never inteded to imply that God's influence in our lives is unimportant or that should not listen and be obedient to Him. I was merely asking questions to try ot clear up this issue of what people really think of waiting on or resting in God.

In Christ (and hopefully Him in me), Mike

dearest saints,

I truly wonder how utterly important it is to understand, to truly understand, that it's God's work, not ours. He's invited us to participate in those works, in fact we're masterpieces of His grace. We're His workmanship created in Christ Jesus;predetermined to good works(His) , we walk in them/Him.

Do not we present our bodies as *gloves*;empty of self. Then God, the *invisible* Man comes and fills those gloves, giving expression of Himself in the *seen* realm.

Michael, please prayerfully consider that the only thing that we can contribute to the whole scheme of God's eternal purpose are our weaknesses, in which His strength is brought to completion.2Cor.12.9....

HIS power is most dramatically demonstrated in our frailty....

Bill, I appreciated your point of view. Believe me I prayefully consider this all the time (over the last 27 odd years) and always question whether I am seeing things correctly. By the way did you have a chance to peruse the response I sent to your inbox. Considering your comment on Jim London's post, I wondered if I should make it public or expand it a little and throw it out as a blog for comment. Opinion?

Peace, Mike

Sandy, I am not asking you to speak for Bill or judge him but would ask how you interpret his comments on this matter. In regard to your comment about kicking back and singing take a look at Bill's June 22nd post. Again, I am not criticizing Bill. I am trying to understand what other's understanding is and compare it to mine.
Bill, I hope you also feel free to comment.

Peace, Mike

Howdy their saints,

I will throw this out to consider. This is written by a man who was very intimately acquainted with all sufficiencies/abilities being from the Lord. This man called himself the least of the apostles, but goes on to say..."But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace which was toward me was not without fruit, but I laboured more abundantly than all of them-yet not I, but the grace of God with me."1Cor15:10

And then this man goes on to tell us that he's been made a minister to "make known the riches of the glory of the mystery which is Christ in you, the hope of glory; Whom we announce, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man full-grown in Christ Jesus. For which also I labor, working according to the working of Him Who works in me in power."Col.1:27-29

Hey Michael, sorry if I haven't gotten back with you on the message you sent to my inbox. I don't care if you want to make it public or throw it out as a blog. And BTW, what is the June 22nd post I made that you're referring to?

Douglas, when I first read this blog I was stirred again in my inner-man to consider again that it's all about the *Contents* and not about the vessel. What determines the identity of a wine-skin? Isn't it the Wine that fills up the skin?

Bill, I thought it was interesting (humourour even) that in the midst of our discussion that Sandy pointed out, "...and Mike..I don't believe anyone is saying we kick back and say "sir rah, sir rah..what will be will be."... " and on June 22nd you had posted, "Que sera sera. Whatever will be, will be." Again, I respect your perspective and thank all of you for the opportunity to bounce stuff around.

In Christ, MIke
