That Christ the Glory of God might fill all things

That Christ the Glory of God might fill all things

Part 2

Eph 4:9-10 (Now this, "He ascended" — what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

We have stated previously that when God blessed Adam and Eve, that in that word blessed He gave them the ability to govern and rule. However when they sinned they were separated from God, they now lacked illumination and lost the wisdom and ability to rule and govern the earth.

It has always been the will of God for the whole earth to be full of His glory. In the Book of Numbers 14, we are told that the people of Israel refused to fulfil the purpose of their redemption. The Lord had brought them out of Egypt with great signs and wonders, but Israel refused to enter into the Promised Land! God was so angry about their obstinate hearts that He decided to utterly destroy all the Israelites except Moses and remake the nation through him. Moses interceded for the people and God spared Israel. It was then that the Lord showed Moses His heart

Num 14:20-21 Then the LORD said: "I have pardoned, according to your word; 21 but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD —

Years after Moses, Isaiah is in the temple an as a prophet he has a vision.

Isa 6:2-3 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!"

Why would the Lord God allow the prophet to see this vision?

It was not to comfort him because his king died of leprosy or have a grand ordination service for him as a prophet but God’s purpose for allowing Isaiah to enter into this vision of His throne was to impart to Isaiah and to us His ultimate desire. To fill the earth with His glory! It has always been the will of God for the whole earth to be full of His glory.  God’s presence, his splendour and his character will fill the earth.

Notice that they did not say that the earth will be filled, or must be filled but the whole earth is full of His Glory. The earth being filled with His Glory has begun in the past, is continuing presently and will be ultimately completed in the future.

Jesus came to bring divine rule and order back. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

When Christ ascended He impart grace and truth into men (He imparted Himself|) so that He the Glory of God might fill all things.

As people progress in sonship and express the righteousness or the nature of Christ through holiness, faithfulness, wisdom from above, love and truth then His Glory is being revealed.

When businesses do not oppress the labourer and do not operate in bribery and corruption but in righteousness then Christ the Glory of God fills those businesses.

When employees serve as unto the Lord in honesty and integrity then Christ the Glory of God is being revealed.

When every domain of society is run on the principles of the Kingdom it has bowed its knees to Christ then Christ, the Glory of God is filling it.

When we take care of the earth by simple acts like not polluting or throwing stuff out of our car windows we move towards expressing His Glory.

There will always be many instances where we are called to take personal responsibility to express that we are the carriers of the Presence of God so let us continue to persevere that Christ the Glory of God be fully formed in us.

Let our daily prayer be for wisdom and spiritual understanding to be fruitful and express Christ our Lord and King the Glory of God might fill all things.

Col 1:9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
