Times of Prayer 45
Yesterday after I had just finished pen our times of prayer point, I walked into the room and noticed that Oprah was interviewing Whitney Houston on television. Whitney shared on how she had everything, money and fame and yet her life was devastated through drugs.
She had written a song called “I look to you” about, ten years ago but it became so appropriate in her life only recently. In her devastation and time of desperation she knew that she had to look to the Living God. She had to look to Christ knowing that His love and His ability could change things for the better. Not promoting the singer in anyway but she had her roots singing Gospel music in church. How about us today? Are we discouraged, disappointed and in debt? Are our lives or the lives of our loved ones being devastated, through alcohol and drug dependence because we are looking away from God?
Jesus in His anguish and pain, facing death on the cross, looked to His Father because He had an assignment to complete. Stephen as he was being stoned to death looked to the heavens and saw the Glory of God. David in his time of trouble looks to the Lord.
Ps 121:1-4I will lift up my eyes to the hills —
From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.
3 He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4 Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

I am just going to pray one line today. You take the time to tell the Father why you are looking to Him.
Father in the name of Jesus I turn my eyes away from the vanities of this world, away from my problems and I look to You.
