It is outside Live Oak city limits. We have been doing some preliminary planning for a tenative trip here in the U.Ss to a Native American reservation. A longer term goal is to also do the same outside the US. I enjoyed the video you posted of the Uganda orphanage choir - Amazing grace. Made me a little "home sick" for my Africian friends I have been missing.
1 is a "listening" prayer group; emphasis is on coming together, worshiping, and listening to Holy Spirit and then sharing "impressions" together. 2nd is an open fellowship type group - have not attended myself - goal is to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit together, practicing the Presence of God. 3rd is a meeting in a prayer center once a month. Meetings begin with worship, often move into prophetic ministry, testimony, sharing, ministering to one another. No "set" direction for any as far as I'm aware.
I was a part of one that was led by Tom Wymore, Marshall. It was discontinued and we have made some efforts to connect with others and made contacts, but nothing has developed in Joyce and my spirits in that regard. Don't want to be part of "who shrunk the church". We are missionaries called to Eastern Europe and involved with trying to help BAM and gathering there resourcesministryee.com. We are part of a very dynamic Global Missions department of New Life Church and meeting with other groups around the city, but not necessarily simple church, as such. Unless a group is intentional about the Great Commission through networking, we likely would not join. Rather, in Colorado Springs we are already stepping into some oportunities with the military community (i.e. wives) where we see the Neil Cole organic model we would likely follow.
well, yes in a sense - my husband and I don't belong to any particular congregation and have been exploring simple/organic church for about 4 years... still looking for like minded people in the area to explore with, but meet with a small number of others who share a similar heart
Hi Marshall, thanks for the welcome. My wife and I are enjoying the simple church expression, having served in tradtional church for a long time and not seeing lives transformed in a deeper level. That is also the challenge of the people who want to be part of the Garden, but still having the mindset of "event" churches and not allowing God to transform them at the deeper level (not that we ourselves have arrived yet..) But it has been an exciting journey... can't think of doing it otherwise!
Hi Marshall, I know of one house church in the High Springs area...I haven't been to it yet. I just found out about it. Someone I know is a part of it, but I'm not sure if it's just a small group from the institutional church or not. I'll find out if I visit.
Since January I've going to one in Gainesville about 30 minutes away. The distance is like a disconnect but I'll see how it turns out. But I am curious about the one that's closer to me.
Have not found any other than ourselves. We transitioned out of a TC and enjoy SC very much. We have 2-3 meeting locations and looking to add another. Let me know if you know of any other PCs in our area.
Hi Marshall, I plan on traveling from Nashville and east of there. Particularly interested in the Chattanooga and Knoxville area and along the Smoky Mountains up to Bristol. I've never been to tn. before so I'm just checking out these places because I've heard they are so beautiful. I'm retired and have a small income so I'm looking for reasonable places to live, low property taxes, etc. I've heard Nashville is expensive and Chattanooga is not so much so I'm leaning that directions. I welcome any insights to living in tn!
Marshall, The church in Hampton is alive and well! Thanks for asking! I did have another page, but I thought I deleted it several months ago. I'm joining again because I'm curious to know the current talks amoung the "simple church" folks. Have a great day!
Blessings to you, Marshall. My answer is that I have no idea. (You asked if there are any simple churches in Puerto Rico). I know there are a lot of complicated churches in our island. To be honest, I just came across this web site yesterday as I was looking for Honeytree videos. So...I'm still to learn about the simplicity aspect of the church. I'm in for an interesting journey : ) God bless you with peace and mercy.
